Iran President snubs interview with CNN’s Amampour over reporter’s refusal to wear headscarf

The President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisihas has snubbed an interview with CNN senior correspondent, Christine Amampour.

Amampour, via her instagram handle, stated that this was going to be President Raisi’s first interview on US soil following the protest and Iranian women burning their hijabs after the death of Mahsa Amini.

However, the interview could not hold because the Iranian president insisted she wore a head covering.

“The aide made it clear that the interview would not happen if I did not wear a headscarf. He said it was “a matter of respect,” and referred to “the situation in Iran” – alluding to the protests sweeping the country.”
