Amotekun Arrests Man For Human Trafficking in Osun




The operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps on Saturday, March 23, 2024, arrested a young man, Oyekola Taofeek, 26 years old from Osogbo for kidnapping and luring a 15-year-old girl, Mariam to his residence at Ita- Olokan Osogbo.


The suspect was arrested by Amotekun at Ibokun Road Osogbo after the suspect used black magic for a girl and followed the girl to her residence to pack her belongings. On getting to her residence, the girl raised an alarm which alerted Comsaic Security and apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Amotekun operatives.


While revealing her ordeal, the victim said at around 0800hrs, she boarded a mini bus known as korope from oja oba going towards Ilesa garage of which the suspect was the driver. The victim was the only passenger at the time. The suspect brought a ring and wore it on his finger and touched the victim which made the victim to lose her memory. Suspect thereafter drove the victim to his residence at Ita Olokan, Osogbo. On getting to the residence, the suspect dropped the ring inside a white plastic and he asked the victim to undress but the victim refused. He then forcefully pushed the victim on a 3-seater couch and attempted to rape her. The victim pleaded with him to let her go and that she would come back later to which the suspect did not oblige. He later brought out an axe and to threaten her that if she doesn't comply, he would cut her into pieces and sell her body parts. He also brought out a concoction which he licked and ordered her to go to her house and bring all her belongings to live with him. He brought out different charms for the victim to take an oath that she would come back which the victim refused. He later followed her to her house on a bike to assist in bringing her belongings. When the victim got down from the bike, she raised an alarm which made Comsaic Security come to her aid and got the suspect arrested and handed him over to Amotekun.


The suspect confessed to kidnapping and luring the girl to his residence.


Confirming the arrest to the newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said the suspect was arrested for Kidnapping and trafficking of a 15-year-old girl in Osogbo by a local security and the suspect was handed over to Amotekun on Saturday, March 23, 2024, for investigation.


Upon the investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the act, and it's not his first time perpetrating the same offense". Adewinmbi said.


He urged the operatives of the corps to remain extra vigilant to arrest the criminals and intensify intelligence gathering.


The suspect has been transferred to the National Agency For Prohibition On Trafficking In Person (NAPTIP) Headquarters Osogbo for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
