Yoruba Security Summit To Hold On Thursday In Ile-Ife

In a bid to engage stakeholders in matters of national security, the House of Oduduwa Ile-Ife is to organize a 1-day Yoruba Security Summit with the Theme: "Kidnapping and Banditry: Overcoming the Twin Menace" which will be delivered by, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR (Chairman Police Service Commission and Former Inspector General of Police) and the second lecture will be delivered by Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon (Araba Awo of Osogboland) on the Theme: "Yoruba Legacy of African Science: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" designed to address insecurity in the country.

The summit is expected to bring stakeholders together to seek solutions to insecurity in the country.

The summit, scheduled to be held on Thursday 29th February 2024 at Ojaja Arena, Ife Grand Resort, Ile-Ife, by 10 a.m, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR will be Special Guest of Honour, while the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi(Ojaja II) will be the Chief Host and the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke will be the Host.

All Southwest governors will be in attendance for the event.

The Chairman organizing Committee and immediate former Field Commander Osun Amotekun Corps Comrade Amitolu Shittu and Otunba Moses Olafare the secretary of the committee said that the summit will foster connections among citizens and critical stakeholders, security administrators, and leaders.

"Through knowledge sharing and collaboration, ideas leading to strategic resolutions will be developed, with agreed mechanisms for implementation, towards safeguarding our environment and restoring security and safety in the Southwest and the nation. By coming together, we will share insights on how we, as individuals, communities, and organizations should respond to incidents and the role and responsibilities we have to secure our communities. Indeed, knowledge has always been power". Shittu said.

He asserted that as a security expert, there was the need to bring stakeholders together to proffer solutions as insecurity does not select professions to affect.

"Therefore, sharing knowledge will help us innovatively contain security challenges".
