Rivers crisis: PDP leaders meet, welcome Tinubu's intervention

The Governors Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the Rivers State crisis and urged all political parties to sheathe their swords. This was stated in a communiqué issued by the governors on Tuesday night after they met at the Oyo State Governor's Lodge in Abuja to discuss the crisis in the oil-rich state and other national issues. , President Tinubu was in a crisis and convened a meeting with Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Mr Wike also assured the PDP of resolving the issue amicably in a meeting with a delegation of South-South leaders in Abuja on the same day. Earlier, the Party's National Working Committee (NWC) urged the parties to sheath their swords and resolve the issue peacefully. The PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba in a statement said the party has “commenced processes, using the Party`s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement are addressed”. “The NWC therefore charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and members of our great Party in Rivers State to close ranks, unite, and focus on the onerous task of governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people,” he added.
